I love rafa's new and more potent backhand. He is now able to hit his cross court backhand shots with more power and consistency. .

@Osama Bin Lovin yea he seems to have more consistency with it now specially in this tournament. I might be wrong but he may have hit more winners with it this tournament than any other time previously. Federer was totally bamboozled by few of those in their match.

Okay but let’s acknowledge Federer’s clutch shot with that body spin in the air and slice swing right before Nadal’s winner

The wind was too bad. Both of them suffered but Federer suffered much more. Nadal used his high forehand on Roger's backhand, the ball was coming really nice and Nadal could hit it pretty easily. Such a shame to see a traditional and big tournament like rg with no roofs or hawk eye.. Nevertheless, Roger played incredibly well, after a 3 years hiatus, and Nadal of course was the favorite and has huge congratulations from me...

@sivan ferna Roger definitely is not as good as nadal on clay. Thats a fact

    • sivan ferna
      sivan ferna Il y a 6 mois +1

@Andrei Reginatto then roger is just not as good, thats a skill difference

    • Andrei Reginatto

@sivan ferna but rafa knows how to do it. Roger, in my opinion, suffers when things dramatically change

    • sivan ferna
      sivan ferna Il y a 6 mois

wind helps roger actually. The reason is because roger has a more clean and compact technique where as rafa takes a bigger loop at the ball so rafa has to adjust more

@Django0812 I know. The chances of getting a shot wrong, is greater than on a hard court, because of the properties of clay. But at least, let's have hawk eye so we can see where the shot was

Yes he definitely did hit better shots during the match then this one, but it’s not just about the shot itself. It’s also the fact that it was a high pressure point being set point and that he took the opportunity to rip a backhand from being out of position.

I think nadal hit better shots than this at the tail end of the 2nd set, from 3-4 behind on serve to breaking and winning the set
