No question that RF is the tennis GOAT but in Roland Garros, nobody comes close to RAFA.

It's been one sided story so far BUT Rafa is slower now and Roger has improved his strategy against Nadal judging by 5 last matches between them. None of these matches were on clay though. We will see.

Asmunar Bektenov looked fine v Nishikori bro. No one can beat this current Nadal have u seen his backhand?

With all due respect to Federer fans, it's best Rafa wins, as he stands a better chance in the final.
And he's The King Of Clay

Today he played lights out against the world number 3. Nishikori was knackered and now you'll say the wind hampered Federer. Conditions and fatigue is all part of it.

I don't think this Rafa is the "strong version" of Rafa at French Open, he has not met any big name players so far and Kei Nishikori just came from playing an exhausting 5 setters .. when you see Rafa play, its obviously he's not firing at even 80% yet because the wet moisture conditions makes his top spin ineffective and therefore low bounce ... Nadal's about 50% more threatening when the weather is hot and dry, the high bounce makes the tennis ball jump into your eyes ...

If Fed wins this he will be the only guy to have ever won against a strong version of Nadal at RG and the first to ever beat him in a SF or F at the event. It will completely cement the worthyness of Federer being a roland Garros champion.
But yeah Rafa will probably win lol

Of course the rivalry between Roger and Rafa is a good one, but on clay? There is no great rivalry on clay, Federer never won against Rafa in RG. There was no fife set match between these legends at the French Open, Federer didn't really have a chance to win most of the times. You cannot really talk about an upcomming battle, because it has been a one sided story so far. But nevertheless i am hoping for a real battle, perhaps federer will finally get a victory over Nadal. I think he wants it so badly. He should have enough self-confidence, because he won the last few Matches against him. It seems like he can handle Nadals game with his backhand better than before. Let's see how it will work tomorrow on clay against the 11-time-champion.

Quick points and alot of variation is probably Federers best chance at staying with Nadal scorewise. Getting into long tedious rallies is just gonna end with high unforced errors on his BH wing but I hope he does well, he's had a really good tournament. Can't wait, super excited for this match🙂

I have to agree with you ... I remember during Sampras's era, tennis was losing popularity worldwide because the short rallies benefitted big servers like Sampras tremendously but it also made things really boring, its either serve-win or serve-return-win .. thats actually the main reason they slowed down the courts , because its was sooooooooo boring looking at who have the biggest serve ... I'm really enjoying watching tennis so much more because that era is gone and now we get to see a lot more variety of shots, strategising and exciting back and forth rallies ...
Which brings me to my opinion that grass court tennis is the most boring among them, the points are still so short, I have a hard time getting through 99% of the matches unless it features the big 3 against each other ...

Long tedious rallies, never met a tennis fan who doesn’t want to see long rallies but short points instead, you’re a weird one.

Roger u r wrong , we do know , he has kicked your ass every single time u played him at Roland Garros , fact .
Not only that , people keep saying u r the goat , yet u r down on head to head to the two best players of your generation , Rafael and Novak.
Final point , he has beaten u on every surface even grass yet , never once were u able to beat him at the French open .
So please stop saying , on clay , on clay stfu

    • Kishnabe
      Kishnabe Il y a 6 mois +1

@Sarachi Dono Federer has a slim chance. Soderling and Djokovic beat Nadal at RG. Anything can happen on a single day. Rafa could tweak his ankle/knee during the match. Maybe he feels off like in Madrid where he was spraying forehands wide. I expect Nadal in 3 or 4 sets.

@Oracle of Switzerland I don't think Rafa will even have to wait till 37 to accomplish those milestones.

    • Goku
      Goku Il y a 6 mois +4

Athletic Auba yeah fasho he just turned 33 and in 4 days he’ll have 18 slams so in 4 years I’m pretty confident he will win at least another 2 of these, not to mention maybe a Wimbledon (did well last year) and US open (good track record)
I think he is on 81 titles so 5 titles a year for 4 years yes why not
Injury is his main obstacle not any player
If he didn’t have all those injuries Fed probably has 15 slams

Hit me back when Nadal has 20 grand slams, 101 titles and still wins them at the age of 37. Federer is the best player of all time, Nadal is the best clay player of all time (11 out of his 17 Grand Slams, 64%).

    • Goku
      Goku Il y a 6 mois +2

Athletic Auba I’m putting a big bet on Nadal. There’s just NO WAY possible
It’s so disrespectful that we are even considering this a match
You do realise in 1000 years they will still be saying Rafael Nadal is the most dominant person in ANY SPORT and will have carved out a statue of him
There will be museums in honour of him and probably Philip Chatrier will no longer being used so they will most likely make that into a execution viewing zone detailing all of Nadals victims
And Federer will be one of those that was executed on many occasion by this Spanish freak of nature

The second version of Fed is not Thiem... duhh, its Dimitrov ..
Thiem is second version of Wawrinka in terms of style (those backhands !) ...
