What do you expect when you play against the god of clay? You can do nothing except give a thumbs up and a nod to acknowledge his greatness.

Carlos Simancas People who say that are hard to believe, physical and no technique are not enough to win 18 Grand Slams in all the surfaces. Nadal is a legend and top 3 of all times.

The French Open should be renamed Rafael Nadal not Roland Garros ( an Aviator )
Or at least the Trophy be called COUPE RAFAEL NADAL
12 Titles in any Grand Slam, but even more so a Clay Grand Slam has to be one of the TOP 3 biggest achievements of all time in any sport.
Come on! Clay Legends like Gustavo Kuerten, Matts Wilander, Lendl, Lacoste have won it 3 times.
Borg who is regarded as a demigod has won it 6 times.

NADAL not only won it this ridiculous amount of times, but also during the strongest ERA in Tennis History.

    WOW!

@Zubair Butt Whatever. Ask why nobody on tour likes Djokovic. If you don't get it yourself, good for me. No problem. I will stop this silliness here, luckily I'm one of many, many, many people who remembers the roof decision of last year. Very unsportsmanlike... but this is not a surprise, seeing from who was coming from. You happy with that? Fine with me. I'm celebrating, you are not. :)

Nadal is the best player in clay with wind, without wind, with humidity, without humidity, with sun, without sun, with roof and without roof. He is simply the best in clay and only the pass of the years will make it stop being the best.

    • DS
      DS Il y a 6 mois +2

@TheFlash3237 Nadal won Sao Paulo in 2013 in an indoor conditions against David Nalbandian, a very good player in that conditions.
And again, is about the surface not about the roof.
If Nadal can play very well in indoor conditions on grass, like last year in Wimbledon, what does it make you think he can not win next year the French Open in indoor?
And it is also not safe to play like this in 2020.
It could be rescheduled until 2021.
And Nadal can still win his favorite tournament like that.
      VA19S!

  • Mihailo 'Mikel' Михаило

Nadal keeps writing history yet again. Here are reasonable reasons as to why Rafael Nadal, the living legend, could/should be considered the Greatest Of All Time.
    1. Rafael Nadal is the only player since the open era who has won a single grandslam 12 times (!) This is unprecedented and a phenomenal achievement.
    2. Nadal has beaten Federer and Djokovic in atleast 1 grandslam final on their favorite and strongest surface, it being grass by beating Federer in that legendary final at Wimbledon and beating Djokovic (who is considered as one of the best hardcourt players ever) twice on a hardcourt grandslam final (US Open, 2010 & 2013).Both Federer and Djokovic never managed to win a grandslam final against Nadal on his favorite surface.
    3. Nadal has been more dominant on his favorite surface then Federer and Djokovic have been on their favorite surface. He has a stunning 81 consecutive match wins on clay, the longest streak since the start of the Open Era.
    4. Nadal has won the gold olympic medals both at the singles and doubles.
Now think about the injuries Nadal had. Would he have stayed healthy during his career, he’d most likely would have surpassed Federer in all time time grandslams.

    • ShockWave
      ShockWave Il y a 6 mois +2

He is one of the GOAT, same as Federer and Djokovic. But I still say there is no such thing as the absolute. And the injuries are part of the sport, and is actually great in the sense of leading by example. He has played through so many, even with injuries and such. I don’t care as much about whether he breaks Federer’s tallies. Just that he continues to lead by example, and inspire.

TheNewGuy very true! He has 2 Olympic. A few Davis cups... Needs one more AO... Then just play to stay healthy no one will ever get 8 French opens.. If he ended with 14 French opens OR MORE.. That's ultimate dirt dominance. PERIOD. I don't claim to know best all around player.. But get real, the closest is BORG.. So... Who looks like they can start winning this at 17 or 18 years old now? Will anyone? HOW? that would be something.

Ali Farooqi - Clay Court King would be more respectful. “King of Clay” was invented by the English speaking media because they don’t respect players that excel on clay. Clay court specialist is another term that falls into the same category.
