2:47 Roger knew that when he signed up to the clay he would have a better chance against RAFA as he stayed away from Roland Garros for 3 years in the hope that he would dominate Rafa on hardcourts/grasscourts to tally up confidence and somehow beat Rafa on clay later; in addition this year is Rafas weakest year on clay too to add to Feds decision to come past. Sorry but this strategy failed, we doubt Federer will come back to roland garros again because he just fears Rafa on clay and the only Roland Garros trophy was achieved by beating someone else and not the GOAT himself. In conclusion, fed came, he saw and was blasted back home like no other player can.

Federer is now down 2-14 vs Nadal in clay, but is up 13- 11 vs Nadal in hard and grass surfaces.

I'm a Rafa fan but Federer is a serious chance here. Nadal has been a bit wobbly at times (even during the FO last year), particularly in the early stages of matches. Whereas Federer has looked almost as good as he has ever looked on clay. While I think Nadal will win, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Roger take this. He's done more than enough to deserve it too. We may never see him at Roland-Garros again.
And what a classy response to the last question. This kind of humility and strategic outlook is disappearing. Always a pleasure to see someone who knows what it means to fight against the odds.

Fed didn't answer the question, sure there is always a chance against anyone in any professional tennis match, this is a statement of logic rather than the nuances of Fed's form. The interviewer wanted to know if Fed was any more optimistic than previous meetings with Nadal. Fed's response indicates a strong reliance on fate. Good luck Fed, you have little chance, you know it, we know it, but good luck.

Roger is playing it down so Rafa lets his guard down.
It's not going to work. Rafa is too professional and intense to play into Roger's gamesmanship.
No doubt , Roger will throw the whole kitchen sink at Rafa being more aggressive than usual, serve and volleying , and getting to the net at every opportunity. He will get his share of aces and big serve points.
I expect a couple tight sets but eventually the errors will come off Roger's racket and Nadal will pounce. Nadal will weather the storm and eventually wear Roger down.

8/10 times Federer would be right about this - everyone has to go through Rafa in Paris. But all French Open champions other than Rafa since 2005 - Fed, Djoker and Stan - did not have to play him to win the title that year (Novak beat Rafa in 2015 and lost to Stan in the final); Rafa either lost early, or withdrew due to an injury.

He answered all the questions esp. the second one with honesty and confidence.. sometimes we lose hope when we know he faces a very difficult opponent. but he was so optimistic and treat it as a challenge. great mindset indeed..

Roger has nothing to lose in the semi. His mentality on reasons to play clay is spot on. You want to play the best...thats Rafa on clay. He isn't afraid of it or him. Shows how big his heart is.

What speaks for Roger winning is that his backhand against Stan was on Stanimal level. So if his forehand is better for the whole match and backhand as good, volleys and converts breakpoints better. He def has a shot of winning.

Roger even gives the best answers. He doesn’t beat around the bush. He answers with humble assertiveness, but yet he always ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS HE’S ASKED, instead of answering the questions he WISHES he’d been asked, like politicians and other slimy athletes.
I love you Roger!! Go for it man!!
Leave everything out there on the court!!!

Damn Roger is always so well-spoken but this time he even exceeded himself, the second answer was 👌👌 and he said the truth: as small as it may be, you always have a chance against anybody and it's up to you to make the best of it

Not having had even a close call on a set is actually not in Rafa's advantage. He's been dictating the game for 12 days, but the last 3 days of the open may well be a different game...
