WOW!!! That was so fun to watch and learn how to do... Now if I can just go and give it a try, it would open so many possibilities with transformations I do.

If you do a prosthetic appliance using a mold tutorial , an easy and less messy way of getting the plaster off of the lifecast is to wrap the lifecast with clear plastic wrap. Once the plaster is dry, your prosthetic mold will easily "float" off the face quite easily.

@ItsGottaBeSarahC I use 2 polyfoam generic headforms, 1 full head and neck and 1 face headform. I applied petroleum jelly on the exposed non clay area, but I have trouble getting the mold off the headforms. This is why I use wrap over the headform.
What would you suggest I do so the mold would come out of the form without difficulty on a polyfoam headform minus the plastic wrap ?
Also would somebody be able to do a full head mask using the technique you decsribed in the video? I have no luck making 2 part molds....

I wouldn’t recommend doing that as it’s going to add bulk to the lifecast and therefore distort the form and fit of your prosthetic

When I do this technique and when I am taking the latex of the sculpt, it doesn’t keep its shape. When I peel it off, it just comes off as a flat prosthetic like a piece of flesh

That means you’re not doing enough layers for the latex to be able to support itself. Hope this helps

Use flour and latex, much better can sculpt it and its not hollow. Its great. Much easier then this, last a lot longer too

Both methods work just fine. In my opinion and experience this method has more room for error (which is better for beginners) because you can work on a clay sculpt forever, but sculpting with latex you only have a certain period of working time before it’s set. Also, latex has a certain shelf life no matter what method you use. It’s all about how you take care of the prosthetic, not the method used to make it. However, I will say that I’ve seen people use the flour method and have issues with mold growing over time. Use what works for you, but don’t shame, belittle, or tell people how they should do things because everyone is different and has different ways of doing things.

+It.z Kaylee I buy all my makeup, besides a few fx products, online. FXCosplay, FacePaint.com, and even Amazon are my favorite websites to get my paints from. My top brands are FAB(which is exclusive to FXCosplay), Mehron Paradise Paints, Diamond FX, and Wolfe. Hope this helps 💜👍🏻
