  • The marriage between the United Kingdom and the European Union has not been a harmonious one, and now they find themselves in divorce court. There are many reasons why the marriage went sour, and it’s not surprising that after all these years the couple has found more that pulls them apart than brings them together.

The attitude to sovereignty is certainly a major difference between the UK and many of the EU countries. Most EU nations have a "flexible" approach to both their borders and who "rules" them after centuries of wars and disputes. There is not a single EU country that has the same borders and land area today as it had just a century ago - in fact many of these countries didn't even exist. The UK has been largely untouched for a thousand years and other than a few recent "rescue" missions in Europe (squabbling kings aside) has stayed well out of most European politics.

The EU is shaking down and it's a good thing. Instead of it's true purpose it now functions as a leverage for rich people to get more powerful by bribing the MEP. Also, it's migration policies are the opposite of what it should be and it seems to be trying to integrate it's member states into a one united federation, which EU has pledged to it's member states that it's not going to happen.
Hopefully my country, Finland, will get released from this as soon as possible..

For me it's that desire for ever closer union they talk about. What does it actually mean in the minds of the corporate fascists in Brussels? If they intended to build a EUtopia for the peoples of Europe (note the treaties talk about the PEOPLES of Europe not peoples of the Middle East or Africa) they would have littered our post boxes with leaflets about it before the referendum. They didn't because it isn't to be a EUtipia for the people, it is quite simply about big business with the people a very poor and becoming poorer, second.

The UK joined the trade block, and nothing more.

apparently only 1-2% are actually refugees, and they only count as refugees if they go to the nearest country that offers a safe heaven, finally, when they move to the next country after seeking asylum in the first they are called immigrants not refugees.
people are only coming into Europe and moving towards places that offer free health care, free education and free housing AKA benefits. they are trash (the 98-99%).
there are fully grown men "fleeing" from the country that can actually help to ending the war, its pathetic.

+Lewys Rich just watch. EU is alredy starting to improve on the matter of muslim invaders and cristian refugees arriving on European soil. PM Boyko Borisov from Bulgaria (My homeland) gave a idea for creating "hot spots" outside EU borders close as possible to the homeland of the actual refugees so they may return and rebuild their lives one day (mainly Syria,Lybia) and military intervention from EU into Lybia against the Jihadists. Hungary PM Viktor Orbán approve of the idea and even develop it further(by the way they bolt call for creating of European army) into rebuilding cities in Lybia for the refugees to live in. however with each passing day is becoming more and more clear that without masive military intervention with surgical
precision against Boko Haram Africa wont slow down into pumping refugees into EU. also Daesh must be eradicated however Russia alredy dealt a major blow there.
and finaly but most importantly the root of the terrorism Saudi Arabia and Iran those two are the main spewers of Terrorist ideology.

How dare you suggest Britain has just run away from the issue of the refugee crisis, the UK has been supporting the anti people traffickers in the Mediterranean since day 1 and has has been assisting Lebanon and Jordan in helping the crisis at it's base rather than tell hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to just walk to Western Europe. So far the UK has spent £2.3billion on the refugee crisis more than any other European nation, so although we have not taken in many migrants at least we are helping the real unfortunate ones that are left behind.

      4) They hate us? Ahahah That is why India is discussing a fee trade agreement with us? That why Canada was willing to wait seven years for a deal with us? That's why every other nation want a trade deal with us?
Nobody care about you anymore, your economy is plummeting and it's not the XIX century anymore

Alfa&Omega 00000 1) more than half that 44% exports goes OUTSIDE the EU. It only shows as an overall import to the EU because they first dock at other EU nations such as Netherlands, before going globally. 2) No, the UK is the is 2nd largest *net contributor* (Do you even know what that means?) We pay more to the EU than what we take out, FACT. 3) EU is comparable to US in soft power? LOL. No, no you are not. Maybe because the UK is still in the EU but the UK is currently ranked #1 with the US in 2. 4) Actually no, the commonwealth absolutely hate dealing with the EU and it's unreasonable tarrifs. Shit, it took Canada 7 yrs to strike a deal with the EU bureaucracy. The EU economy has been stagnant for decades because of this bureaucracy. 5) Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will still be apart of this United Kingdom no matter what you wish for. Just like Catalonia will be apart of Spain.

Alfa&Omega 00000 I'm not desperate for a deal with EU. 85% of the global economy is outside the EU. The EU sells more to us than we do to them. The EU economy will suffer if they don't deal with us. The EU are just playing hardball because they are SHITTING themselves that other EU states will leave. They know they have to make a deal, especially Germany. Economists have for years said that the pound is way too high making external investments too expensive. And no, the UK IS the 2nd largest NET contributor. That is a fact. The UK will do just fine without the EU and especially all those rapists Merkel unleashed on the continent. So great there is a channel between us. You keep calling us little Englanders, yet you speak my language. How many people around the world speak English? Cultural soft power Britain still ranks number 1. Britain has always been an outward looking nation, unlike the protectionst EU. I'm for the commonwealth, not the EU. Never have been.

@Julk... don't get me wrong, I have no issue with someone migrating to better prospects or to take advantage of circumstance, the UK is a softspot for benefits and the Polish flooded over, I don't blame them , I blame Labour for dropping all the red tape and basically throwing tax payers money to suppliment poorer economies.. I also have Polish friends but I also see these same friends have replaced local low payed workers and also artificially dragged the pay level down... big companies exploiting the gold mine of cheap labour.
I'm no xenophobic, racist or far right nut but I believe in immigration control, when you have some untouchable elite system dictating you should let everyone in regardless of your economical circustances and they ignore all your plight and concerns as you no longer have your own rule of the situation then we have a problem, look at Greece, they got sacrificed for the EU agenda, when someone elected in a party and was the finance minister (Yanis Varoufakis)who opposed the EU system he didn't take long to resign, in the eyes of Europe he did this of his own accord, in reality he was forced out by blackmail... the circumstances of his resignation defy his circumstances and his support... this is one of many, when the Elite don't like something or even a referendum result, they choose to ignore it, issue threats and ensure it's there way or no way, you cannot change the historical facts but you seem to ignore them, you stay trapped in this dictatorship and when your kids go Daddy why can I not choose the person in power who effects my life it may be too late. UK was the first time they couldn't ignore a referendum, the UK was one of their biggest contributers and their biggest export market, it would have been and instant collapse of the EU to deny this one.
Check your EU history before you comment, they have one agenda and they have no hesitation on damaging member states to realise this dream, we realised it and got out... if your lucky, you may have a chance too.
PS ... living in Ireland, you of all people should know about the EU ignoring a referendum result, your issue here is your looking at this from a personal experience with your friends or various nationalities rather than looking at what is best for the Country, its economy and future... are you really that shortsighted to deny your offspring the best available future.

      @Julk..
As we do any other country, the thing is if the country wants your skills then they will let you in, if they don't want them then you attribute to a lowering of average wages like has been seen in the UK because we had no restrictions on freedom of movement, controlled migration is the only way to protect your economy and put your own nationals first, when you ignore the plight of a country who was getting excessive net migration then they rebel at the poll station (Brexit), I personally will not lose any sleep not having the freedom of movement and employment rights that has damaged our country, we can still holiday and enjoy Europe like before and considering the massive unemployment in all Southern Europe member states then why would I want to look for a job there... the issues are Migration, the failed Euro and the EU's raping of soveriegn powers from its members, there is no quick solution to any of these so expect it to get alot worse before it gets better.
I speak from watching what has happened to the EU and its members over its lifespan, it is not the trade group it once claimed to be, it now is pushing for a superstate (finally admitted by the Elite after decades of denial)... so whatever country you live in you are about to loose Democracy, Sovereignty and struggle with a immigration issue that there are no quick solutions for, you think its bad now, wait until several million have arrived in the next 5 yrs, you will see like Sweden has a explosion in sex crimes, wages driven down for the low end jobs and a rise in anti establishment as we have witnessed, France is seeing, Poland and other countries who are all now seeing what we did although painful to the EU... ..the best thing for the UK empire that could have happened.
Remember when we were told that if we refuse to join the Euro then our Economy would crash and the pound would fail, that really didn't go to plan because we now have the fastest growing economy in the world even while in Brexit, our pound has always stayed stronger than the failed Euro and all the scaremongering turned out to be just that..
The EU has to make some massive changes to it fundemental rules like free movement otherwise it's going to implode, the signs are already showing where countries are defying EU parliament, threats are starting to occur and protests are now a daily thing on some streets... and you mock me because I cannot just wander over and get a job lol ... what jobs, there isn't any hence we are getting massive influx of Spanish, Polish, French etc etc to England just to get a job.

Europe and Britain were doing very nicely thank you before the EU was created and will do again when the whole shamefull order collapses. If it was only about trade why do we need massive luxurious buildings and wages in Brussels. The buyer at ASDA can phone a supplier in France and say "" send me some wine and cheese"". Arnold Clark can phone Germany and order some new BMWs. You don't need a huge costly organisation of pampered Euro MPS to oversee it.

Merkel inviting a million plus Muslim immigrants who see no issue raping white women is another reason to leave, especially when she's more keen to arrest the critics of the rapists than arrest the rapists themselves. Then she demands other nations accept certain numbers of these "migrants" regardless of the safety risk, or else the EU won't give them any rebates.

In 2018 it’s projected to only be 130,000
And then in 2022 it’s projected to be 50,000
