You can TWF with armor spikes. It explicitly says they can be used to perform an off-hand attack. :D
Also, that moment when you're both the rules lawyer AND the DM.

Ok so you could use two weapon fighting and use spiked armor if you have multiple attacks as part of your attack action. Start with one free hand and use the attack action, replacing one of the attacks with a grapple. The spiked armor will deal damage, then use your normal attacks with a light weapon. Now use your item interaction to draw your second light weapon and use your bonus action to attack.

RAW gets a bad rap because of people trying to use it to tell the DM what their OWN MONSTERS can do. That's simply not how that works. The only way you should be arguing for rules as written is for your own character's abilities, which would allow for exploits in certain circumstances. For example, Polymorph doesn't require that you've seen the creature before, but Wild Shape does. With RAW, all you need is a lake or mirror to have an OP Moon Druid in a few days of downtime.

The funniest thing is, I play d+d with a lawyer and we often argue over the interpretation of rules and the wording of cards, because he is used to picking holes in wording for a living and I’m a grammar Nazi. We’ve nearly come to blows over it at times.

I used to have problems with rules lawyers at my table.
My solution: become a game designer, and run games I designed. It's harder for a rules lawyer to argue with "I wrote the game, here's how it works".
