Valencia playing style is defending with counter attacks trough all season. 9 players missed: Guedes, Gomez, Piccini, Kondogbia, Garay... a lot of problems with club owner and manager. It is actually interesting story, after bad preformance against Roma (I think), Napoli owner demanded that players have to spend whole time at training facility till next game. All players refused to do that and no one showed up except Carlo. Owner was pissed and there you go, club is going to hell. I recommend you to read full story, it is shocking.

The ref was not the problem . it happens they had 2 weeks of poor performances. injuries and mental saturation of winning every game and scoring 3 goals on average. Luck is one factor, form the 2nd. against twente they where poor against lille they where poor. against Willem II they where poor and looked mentaly tired. It happens it thappend after reaching the final in the Europa league , a few years ago it happend after winning the league 3 or 4 times in succesion,it happend in 1996 didnt lose a european or league match in 2 years. lost against willem 2 lost against panatinaikos in the champions league semifinal first leg, and the next season they came in 4th or 5th , its called winners fatigue .you done it all set new records and the challenge is gone. That ajax has no killer instinct i strongly disagree. for one they keep atacking till the last minute , its just they are out of form for the past weeks they lost some of their mojo . If they lose next sunday to AZ alkmaar ( my club ) than its all to play for in the league. Ajax were rubbish, unnecessarily too. However, both sides did not show their full potential, Ajax flopped and Valencia just parked the bus after their first goal and started play acting, did not enjoy this game in the slightest. However, I have hope for the Europa League where we can set that aflames when Promes and Neres come back.

This match was ajax's own foult but the referee's in both matches against Chelsea that looked very unlegit.

In a way this season´s group phase was quite "boring" in the sense of those who go through, it´s the bigger clubs from bigger leagues. Okay, Inter is out to EuroLeague but there was Barcelona and Dortmund in the same group, so one had to drop. Group G was even, one could argue about whether Lyon or Benfica is stronger, but this time it´s Lyon. Wednesday will see if ManCity are serious vs. Dinamo Zagreb away, having won the group C already. It´s one of Dinamo, Shakhtar and Atalanta that will go through. Shakhtar play Atalanta at home, and I think they´ll win and go through. Group D it´s Atletico or Leverkusen after Juventus, I bet Atletico will deal Lokomotic Moscow by their HUGE experience and routine, and it´s a home game. Atletico Madrid will win 1-0, goal will be scored around 74th minute and that´s it.

I don't think this ref was very good but he did not lose them the match at all. They defeated themselves against a Valencia that was nothing at all today. Ajax was terrible today but based on the rest of the group stage campaign they deserved to get through to the Round of 16, especially considering their bad luck against Chelsea in both games. Though admittedly, Ajax was lucky in the first game against Valencia... I think we owe it to ourselves now to at least get through to the semis of the EL though.
