you are aware that a lot has been thought up for the series that has nothing to do with the backround in karate kid. Daniel was the boy next door in the movies & Johnny didn't change until the end. in Cobra Kai, Daniel doesn't get the character he deserves. is probably because the series is called cobra kai & for the reason they changed the script to cobra kai's advantage.

I do see Johnny was the bully 100% and Daniel trying to defend himself and stand up to the bullying. However, I love how Johnny is redeeming himself in Cobra Kai and each season the two are learning to put the past behind them. They have a LONG way to go but each season they get better!!

Man when I watched the Og karate kid movie I used to hate Johnny’s character. I’m glad they made a sequel to their story and gave him a time to redeem himself. I love Johnny’s character now. Mans is so funny.

She is so perfectly 80s japanese pop culture young girl. Nice teeth, baby face, bronze skin, typically small eyes, uncoordinated when doing athletic activities. Quite unlike todays pale skin, skinny, snaggle toothed, big eyed, grade school girl aesthetic. Excellent casting. Then again she might also just be typical of what americans liked in east asians in those days now that i think about it.

Kumiko was by far my favorite love interest for Daniel but I can understand why she didn't end up being his wife for the Cobra Kai Series. If that happened, they would have had the happily ever after ending, Daniel would be far more forgiving, and the children would be more stable. Cobra Kai would lose over 60% of the drama.
